MADISON COUNTY, Idaho — Crops were heavily damaged in the same storm that flooded Rexburg on Tuesday.

One potato farmer said flooding and hail ruined miles of crops. His neighbors also saw substantial damage to grain fields.

Although this will be a huge financial loss for farmers, they say it comes with the territory.

"Like everything else in agriculture, it's a risk," said potato grower Lynn Wilcox. "You accept the risk when you put your farmer's hat on. Sometimes the Lord blesses you, and sometimes He takes those blessings away from you. But you just have to be able to adjust."

Farmers have not yet estimated all their losses, but they say the damaged crops cannot be salvaged this late in the season.
