The North Carolina Potato Festival is a fun-filled family festival that celebrates one of northeastern North Carolina’s largest crops: potatoes.
Food, arts and crafts, contests, live entertainment and a midway full of games and large amusement rides can all be found in downtown Elizabeth City, N.C.
Visitors are encouraged to make a weekend of it beginning at the Kick Off Party on Friday night, May 19, on the corner of Main and Water Streets in Elizabeth City.
Saturday and Sunday feature a street fair lining Elizabeth City’s downtown streets, the National Potato Peeling Contest, an auto and motorcycle show, and other events planned for this year’s festival.
