The Eagle-based Idaho Potato Commission is finishing up its 28th Potato Lover’s Month promotion, said Ross Johnson, international marketing director.
The display program, which runs annually between mid-January and mid-March, has grown from an average of 600 participating retailers in its early years to more than 5,000 entries in the past five years, Johnson said.
“Since 2005, the program was enhanced with prizes and elements to engage multiple levels of each retail chain’s produce operation,” he said.
“This has delivered a consistently strong shipping season starting with fresh harvest (in September) all the way through (Potato Lover's Month).”
Potato Lovers Month is the largest display contest “in all of produce,” and the Idaho Potato Commission receives interest from other brands “to form a powerful produce display partnership,” Johnson said.
