The Oregon State University Department of Crop and Soil Science (CSS) is pleased to announce that it will be hosting Hyslop Farm Field Day again as an in-person event.
Hyslop Farm Field Day has been a long-time open house for sharing the work of the faculty of CSS and its USDA-ARS partners with the public. This year’s Hyslop Farm Field Day event is scheduled for May 25. This will mark the return of the Field Day to OSU’s slate of live events and will be the first held since May 2019.
The schedule for this year’s Field Day will include presentations on crop breeding and genetics, agronomic management of grass and legume seed crops, pest biology and management, soil science, and much more. There will also be a welcome by CSS and OSU administrators, expressions of appreciation, and updates on the current state of programs. The Field Day will start at 9 a.m. and will have a hosted lunch. The event is free and open to the public.
The land that makes up today’s Hyslop Farm was two farms prior to the start of CSS research operations at this location in 1929. Each farm was about 120 acres in size. The name of the farm honors the life and contributions of George Hyslop, a pioneering CSS professor. He also served as the second CSS department head from 1916 until his death in 1943.
Hyslop Farm is located near Highway 20 between Corvallis and Albany at 3455 NE Granger, Corvallis, OR 97330.
