Another sure sign that the potato harvest has begun in eastern Idaho (and that it’s also fall), is Idaho Spud Day in Shelley, ID.
Yes, Idaho Spud Day, which celebrates all things to do with potatoes, including the ever popular Spud Tug, which is a big tug of war over mashed potatoes created by mixing potato flakes with water in a cement mixer truck. Yes, they are serious about celebrating potatoes.
Of course there’s a free baked potato bar as well as potato sack races and potato picking contest, among many other activities and entertainment.
