Thanks to some tickets from the Idaho Potato Commission, we were able to take in an Idaho Falls Spud Kings game this past weekend at the Mountain America Center.

It did not disappoint.

The Spud Kings, in which the Idaho Potato Commission is a presenting sponsor, are one of the hottest tickets in not just Idaho Falls, but eastern Idaho. The Spud Kings lost 3-2 in overtime to the Ogden Mustangs (21-6-1-1), which leads the Mountain Division of the NCDC, but there was still plenty to cheer about during the game.

A crowd of 4,032 attended the Spud Kings-Mustangs game. The loss dropped the Spud Kings to 12-12-4-0, which leaves them in fifth place in their conference.

King Tot, the Spud Kings mascot, was entertaining, as was the spud toss, where fans could purchase a rubber potato and throw it at a target on the ice for a chance to win $500.

The Spud Kings are about midway through their season, which ends March 23. The final home game for the Spud Kings is March 9.
