Thanks to the Idaho Potato Commission (IPC), hockey fans were able to celebrate potato night with the Idaho Falls Spud Kings last Saturday at the Mountain America Center.

More than 4,000 fans showed up to watch the Spud Kings play the Ogden Mustangs on potato night and the Spud Kings didn’t disappoint the home crowd, winning a thrilling game 3-2 in a shootout.

During the game, IPC’s new commercial, “Knock Offs,” played on the big screen, Idaho potatoes received some shout outs and IPC Chairman Mark Darrington did the ceremonial puck drop.

And, of course Spud Kings mascot King Tot was there to keep the crowd entertained and also donning ice skates to make a round or two on the ice.

The Idaho Falls Spud Kings are a junior hockey team that plays in the National Collegiate Development Conference (NCDC) and are one of the hottest tickets in Idaho Falls. Games are regularly sold out during the season.
