About The Consultation

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is leading a final consultation to seek feedback on a National Potato Wart Response Plan. This response plan proposes new measures to improve the processes we use to help contain, control, and prevent the spread of potato wart.

The draft plan reflects input received during previous consultations on potato wart risk management documents, a draft of the response plan and, most recently, a consultation about the introduction of a potato wart "viability confirmation" status and a proposed new "field of concern" classification. Recommendations from the International Advisory Panel report and feedback from industry stakeholders have also been used to finalize the response plan.

The goal of this consultation is to support the completion of the new National Potato Wart Response plan that will replace the existing Potato Wart Domestic Long Term Management Plan.
