Ukrainian potato producers, owners of varieties actively exchange not only experience, but also varieties with their French colleagues.
Igor Shkurko, head of PrJSC NPO "Chernihivelitkartoplya,” cooperates with French colleagues in promoting their own varieties on the European Union market and selects new varieties suitable for cultivation in arid conditions.
As Ihor Shkurko reported on his Facebook page, during the day of the French potato field, he met with the owner of a French company. The topic of the talks was the promotion of varieties from PrJSC NPO "Chernihivelitkartoplya" on the European Union market through the provision of license agreements and rights to use patents from "Chernihivelitkartoplya."
The topic was the propagation of varietal seed potatoes with the payment of copyrights to Ukraine.
"I studied the best practices of local breeders, primarily varieties for processing into chips. The Rainbow variety looks great, suitable for growing in arid conditions. It is quite successfully grown without irrigation in Namibia in northern Africa. I will import and test it in Ukraine," said Igor Shkurko.
