Michigan State University Extension is partnering with the Michigan Potato Industry Commission to host the 2023 Montcalm County Field Day on Aug. 3 at the Montcalm Research Center, 4629 W. McBride Rd, Lakeview, MI 48850.
Producers, agribusiness professionals and community members are welcome to attend this event. The event will begin at 8 a.m. with check-in and free donuts and coffee provided, and will conclude after lunch around 1:30 p.m.
This field day will feature keynote guest speaker and panelist Christopher Winslow from Ohio State University. Winslow coordinates the Ohio Sea Grant’s Great Lakes research in the Western Lake Erie Basin and is an expert in nutrient management and freshwater algae blooms.
This year’s field day will consist of two breakout sessions. The first breakout session is a panelist discussion all about phosphorus and nutrient management in field crops with a potato focus. The second breakout session is a workshop that will focus on scouting and pest management considerations for potato production.
The field day will conclude with a provided lunch and an optional Michigan Potato Industry Commission Research Committee meeting in Douglas Township, Michigan.
