Michael H. Salisbury, a longtime Michigan agricultural economics fixture, died Aug. 18, 2024. He was 78. Salisbury was born on April 5, 1946, in Albion, Michigan, to the Reverend Gerald Alexander Salisbury and Ethel Maxine (Balluff) Salisbury.

Salisbury attended Bath and Eaton Rapids schools before earning bachelor's and master's degrees from Utah State. After a decorated service in the military that included serving in Vietnam, Salisbury returned to Michigan to work in the Farm Credit banking system and eventually started Salisbury Management Services, where he brought innovative computer accounting, strategic management solutions, and family succession planning to family farms across the United States, from Maine to Michigan and throughout the Pacific Northwest.

"Mike worked with many potato grower families across the country to do succession and business planning," said Kelly Turner, the executive director of the Michigan Potato Industry Commission. "He was a fixture at state and national meetings for decades and considered a good friend to many."
