On July 11, Angel Rodriguez, SuperMax Fresh merchandising manager, received the 2014 Caribbean Potato Lover’s Month award during Expo MIDA in Puerto Rico. The prize handed out was a check from the Idaho Potato Commission worth $750.00 USD.
Present at the award ceremony were Traci Hiebert, IPC international marketing director; Ines Masallach, Imalinx marketing director; Alejandra Muñoz Ledo, trade marketing manager; and Juan Solero, Robinson Fresh Group business development manager, this SuperMax’s Idaho potatoes supplier.
From November to December 2013, 15 SuperMax stores in Puerto Rico participated in the 2014 Caribbean Potato Lover’s Month. Each store assembled and exhibited an Idaho potato display in the produce area for three to five weeks with materials provided by the IPC and with their own materials.
SuperMax Dorado was the winner of the 2014 Potato Lover’s Month Caribbean contest.
“We had a wonderful outcome with the event at our stores,” said Rodriguez. “Sales were excellent and the brand recognition combined with product quality was great from our customers at store level. The organization and support from the Idaho Potato Commission and Robinson Fresh group made the event a complete success. We all look forward to an exciting new season this year. I am sure we will fulfill and surpass all expectations.”
