Dubrulle DOWNS, the French manufacturer of reception and storage solutions for potatoes, has launched the DOWNS CropVision, a new-generation optical grader for unwashed potatoes. Fitted with the latest technological innovations, it allows a high-speed, qualitative grading of potatoes before entering storage, at a rate of up to 100 tons per hour.
A result of four years of development, the CropVision is fitted with industrial cameras coupled with a unique artificial intelligence algorithm. This patented combination makes it possible to observe and analyze the whole surface of the product in order to classify it according to its quality: clods, stones, other waste, good potatoes, green potatoes, cut potatoes, spoiled potatoes, misshapen potatoes and cracked potatoes.
The CropVision is fitted with three possible exits for the product: a first exit for the product to keep, a second for waste, and a third for lower-category potatoes. According to the user’s requirements, the ejecting fingers will lead the product to the correct exit. Thanks to the 360-degree scan of each potato, the users have access to very accurate information about the stored potatoes.
This new generation optical grader is the solution to recurrent problems encountered before storage: labor availability, sorting quality, economic profitability, food safety and environmental impact. The CropVision is easy to use thanks to a user-friendly touchscreen and can be integrated into DOWNS receiving hoppers and graders. This way, the user will benefit from all the DOWNS’s know-how and experience in custom-made integration projects.
