The Polish brand Bohoboko has launched a unique product: the first perfume with the scent of Polish potatoes.
For the first time, a luxury fragrance has been created that evokes one of Poland's most popular vegetables. After all, without potatoes, there would be no perfect filling for classic pierogi, iconic potato pancakes, or the traditional dinner featuring potatoes alongside fried cabbage and pork cutlet.
Although the perfume featuring the scent of potatoes will officially be available for sale in mid-October, it has already gained traction on social media since its preorder launch. However, it comes with a steep price tag, as 50 ml costs 665 PLN (over 154 EUR).
According to the creators of this unconventional scent, the heart of the "Polish potatoes" composition features notes of noble potatoes, rose, heliotrope, and clove.
"The Polish potato gives this composition a rich character, blending earthiness with distinctive sweetness, honoring the land that is the source of everything," reads the description of the new fragrance.
The authors claim that the scent, enclosed in a crystal bottle, evokes "the memory of an empty market at dawn, which was just bustling with life." They assure that the unique chords of potato fragrance, intense wood, and sweet earthy notes will forever remain etched in memory.
Potatoes made their way to Europe thanks to Christopher Columbus's expeditions. In Poland, their popularity is attributed to Queen Bona Sforza, the wife of Sigismund I, who brought them from Italy.
Initially considered ornamental plants, they gradually became a staple in the diet, especially in the 19th century. Today, potatoes are an integral part of Polish cuisine, used in many traditional dishes.
The product will be available globally.
